I am planning to come over from the UK in October for a two day tour but have concerns:
I would fly to Kiev airport but what then? Are Taxi firms reliable and reasonably priced? I would like book a hotel for the duration but it states that there is a hotel in Chernobyl to stay at. Is that optional? Does the bus return to the pick up point at the end of each day allowing me to stay at my hotel of choice?
I have been an Urban Explorer for over ten years and Pripyat is at the top of my Wish List, so I want to plan my trip as much as possible before committing to a booking.

If your destination aiport is Boryspil, then you can get from the airport to the city by a bus: there's a special route called SkyBus, those buses stop just outside the exit from the airport. You can find more information here https://kbp.aero/en/transport/sky-bus/
If you are going on a two day tour you will stay in the hotel in Chernobyl, it is included in the tour's price. You don't need to book the hotel yourselve. All you need to do is to find a place where to stay in Kyiv before and after the tour
