I can imagine a Ukraine Winter is quite cold
I am planning a trip now I have found out you can visit Chernobyl so plan to do a 3 day trip to Chernobyl, a day at the Kiev Air Museum to check out the TU-22's. Maybe a brewery trip and a 1 day city sight seeing.

What's the best time of year avoiding the "high seasons" that airlines use to increase the flight costs.

I guess some of it is down to preference if you want to see Chernobyl with the local flora in bloom or not.

Hartleyp, it depends and hard to say which time is best. As for me I think that spring (the end of April or the first days of May) or the second half of autumn is the best time not in a high season.

Thanks for sharing the photos. The winter look is more striking being a ghost town in my opinion. I might head out in spring as day light is getting stronger which will help with the photos. Can't wait to visit as always thought it was out of bounds and only media/scientist's could visit.
