Chernobyl zone becomes more forest-like from year to year. Roads plunged into "tunnels", meadows turned into groves and woodlands. A lot of people underestimate it explicitly.

Moreover, both now and 10-15 years ago, the animal was not behind every bush. It's not "Serengeti" park here we have lovely in its modesty the south of taiga zone. No one here is "pressing" animals but no one breeds either. There are a lot of living creatures in the zone, and the population of some species increased. And these beliefs are entirely supported by the results of automatic shooting.
Let me remind you, that in order to describe the wildlife of individual sections of the Chernobyl zone we used modern camera traps. Such "device" is simply hanging on a tree, in size of a palm, and regularly captures everyone who passes it by, whether it is day or night. Experience of the first year proved to be unexpectedly successful. Forests, while visiting were allegedly empty were in fact full of life. Ungulates and predators, large and small animals, quadrupeds and birds - cameras were shooting all of them impartially.
In June of 2013 it was decided to transfer the technique to a new site. In order to stick to the "secrecy of the investigation" I can only say that it is a very wild land, although they are not so far from the "epicenter" of human activity. For a more complete coverage of habitats we set the cameras in the woods and on the edge, and on the meadow.
The idea was not only to identify the species composition of animals but also in the description of what changes occur throughout the seasons in each of the habitats. The best footage is linked with lynx again. It was detected in all five points scattered over an area of 25 km2, and there is at least two adult females with lovely kittens and at least two adult males. It is a way higher density than we expected. Not less than impressing was that lynx, contrary to my views, is quite active in the daytime and is not embarrassed by the presence of "foreign object." It is an amazing animal and adornment of our land!
