Confusion around the Chernobyl-2 (Duga-1 or Duga-3) |
We have a lot of issues that people (especially foreigners) call Chernobyl-2 “Duga-3”
To make things clear here is the short list with the names of radars. There were three radars: 1. “DUGA” – this is experimental node located near Nikolaev (Ukraine) 2. First operational node “DUGA-1” also known as Chernobyl-2 (and also called Chernigov node) 3. Second operational node “DUGA-2” located near Komsomolsk on Amur “DUGA-3” never exist.
So the right name for the radar located near Chernobyl also known as Chernigov node (and called Chernobyl-2) is “DUGA-1”
