Many thanks to the organizers of our custom group visit to the Chernobyl area on 25 June 2012. Our group consisted of 8 Americans, 1 Italian and 3 Ukrainian citizens. This trip was planned long before our arrival in Ukraine - we had to submit the passport information for the group members, agree on the custom itinerary and prepay 50% of the fee. On June 25th, the air-conditioned van had picked us up at our hotel in central Kiev promptly at 8:00 AM and we quickly made our way to the first Control Post into the Zone. In addition to the driver, the group was accompanied by two guides from Chernobyl Tour. One of them (Sergey) spoke very good English and was conducting most of the tour. The other guide was a friendly young man, who had clearly enjoyed adding plentiful commentaries in Russian. During the visit our group had stopped at and walked through a few abandoned villages and towns before reaching the town of Pripyat'. Then we had lunch at the Power Station's canteen, took plentiful photo's of the damaged Unit Number 4, fed enormous catfish and visited an elderly couple, who decided to live in the Zone, despite the order to evacuate the area. At the end of our visit, we made a stop in the town of Chernobyl, where we visited an abandoned Jewish cemetery. The group was driven back to the hotel at 6 PM. The overall impression of the trip was very positive - the tour guides were very knowledgeable, informative and attentive to our needs and questions. I would highly recommend Chernobyl Tour to the English-speaking audience, who is willing and able to visit such unique and interesting place as Chernobyl.

I could not have been more satisfied with my trip to Chernobyl with Chernobyl-Tour! My trip on the 13th of July truly confirmed that there is no better tour operator for your money. Our trip consisted of visits to an abandoned village, Pripyat, reactor #4, catfish that could probably eat small children, a slew of memorials, as well as some stunningly beautiful natural areas and vistas that really show how Chernobyl's ecology is conspiring to singularly change our perception of the zone from one of ecological disaster to that of renewed hope. It's this dichotomy between an ecological disaster for the ages that serves as a not so gentle reminder of our fragile earth, and the preciousness of life contrasted with Chernobyl's surprising re-birth and resiliency which will always make Chernobyl relevant and never neatly pigeon-holed into anyone's preconceived notions. You should of course make your own impressions by going. However, I do recommend that you choose Chernobyl-Tour. Our English speaking translator was a microbiologist who had conducted studies within the 10km zone. One from our Holland contingent even asked her if he could provide her with a professional recommendation after the tour had finished. This tour operator emphasizes safety and customer satisfaction and truly has the experience and knowledge to make your tour an unforgettable one. No where was this more obvious than when our tour's stops overlapped with another tour operator's. While our tour group was smiling and otherwise enjoying the day(with guides and translator always by us, every step of the way), the other group from another operator looked disorganized and more than a little dismal and mostly watched us feed the catfish. Just wanted to say thanks to Chernobyl-Tour, I still haven't stopped smiling.

We took the Chernobyl tour on July the 13th and we truly had a great experience which we'll never forget.

We met in Kiev in the early morning and were taken by bus to the zone's border. For us, the trip through the Ukrainian landscape was an experience on it self. It is SO much different than driving through the Dutch landcape. Things like old people sitting alongside the road selling fruit is something which you would never see in the Netherlands. Other things like passing through small Ukrainian villages already contributed to the whole Chernobyl atmosphere for us.

In the bus, we got to see some footage which was about what happened after the explosion of the reactor. It was mostly in Russian so we didn't really get most of it. Many thanks to our translator, a microbiologist, who could speak English fluently and was with us all the way during the tour, we had no trouble interpreting the footage's meaning.

Before we reached the zone's border, we stopped at several places which were historically linked to the Chernobyl accident. We visited a monument which had the names all the victims on it and some old abandoned villages. These villages actually weren't really villages anymore. It was more like a collection of derelict houses. We were truly amazed by the fact that all the stuff (like clothing and cookery) was still there and has been there for over 26 years. The radiation level on the ground was already massively high here and we hadn't even reached the 10 km zone yet.

When the entered the zone, one of the most impressive parts we got to see was of course the city of Pripyat. The whole Chernobyl atmosphere can really be felt here because of all the abandoned apartment blocks, houses and of course the infamous fair. We also got to enter some of these abandoned buildings (like a school, gym and a swimming pool) never feeling unsafe for one moment thanks to all of our guides.

The other highlight of the tour was of course the reactor itself and it's massive level of radiation near it. It was really bizarre that we were standing just like 300 meters away from the reactor where it all happened.

We also had lunch in the canteen near the reactor where we got scanned for levels of radiation. All of our group members were clear so the risk of getting too much radiation is probably really low.
The food we had in the canteen and even the canteen itself was again so much different than we know it in the Netherlands. Our translator said it still was in Soviet style (canteen and the food) which we had never seen and we though it was really great to have experienced such a thing.

Other things we did were the feeding of giant catfish, visiting some ship wrecks and visiting the city of Chernobyl itself and some monuments. We arrived back in Kiev on like 7:30 in the evening. When we got back to our hotel, we were already making plans for another trip with Chernobyl-tours because we were so amazed by what we had seen that day.

At first we thought it maybe was dangerous to be in such high radiation levels for too long. Fortunately our guides comforted us by saying you could easily be exposed to such a high level for a day without any health risks. One great thing about the this tour was that they the guides did everything to ALWAYS ensure that you never felt unsafe at any moment. Which is an important thing, especially in an infamous place like Chernobyl.

We really had a wonderful experience with Chernobyl-tours. Everything is perfectly organized and even though as a Dutchman you can't understand what the tour guides are saying, you know they are nice guys and are specialists in providing you with information of Chernobyl. Many special thanks goes out to our wonderful translator who was with us all the way!! Without her, we could not have understood anything. Thanks again for this wonderful day and you'll probably see us again in the not too distant future!!

Great trip, everythig was organize so perfectly. Nobody should be worried about the radiation. the radiation for me on one day trip was equal to one day spending at the beach in Poland.
The most amazing view- from Pripec- it looks like a view from some catastrophic movie- town that absorbes the forest.
thanks to the tour guides and all participants for an amazing day.

I visited Chernobyl exclusion zone during a two day tour in 27-28.7. and I have deeply enjoyed the whole experience. One gains a whole new perspective on hazards of radiation, by seeing both where the risks are and where they are not. In addition to the immense learning value of the trip, whole experience is very strong, zone maintains its eerie beauty of a single 30km wide monument to the power of nature and folly of man and finally facing the containment of infamous 4th block was truly moving. A huge thanks goes out to the organizers of the trip, especially to our friendly and knowledgeable guide Vita. The trip was all I ever hoped it would be and much more. I am sure to come back. Stevo

I friends!

we discovered the area during 1 trip of two days:24 and 25 August 2013.

it was very strong in emotions, we (the only 2 french) were with Vita (which is an excellent guide),and our driver was very nice (I don't recall me his first name)
Our group was small, 7 persons, and it is even more interesting!
it has shown us that could give one nuclear accident.
France has 58 reactors, and it could happen.

when i look the 30km area, I realize that there are places where we have not gone:the graveyard of vehicles of Buryakovka, control center of the reactor 1,the secret antennas Chernobyl-2,basements of pripyat, the morgue, the red forest, harbor cranes, the graveyard of ships, the jupiter factory, bus station of pripyat

I understand that the area is large, even huge, and it's not in two days that we just see everything!
If I come back for three or four days, we can see these parts of the area?

I hope you put the pictures of the 2 groups.(With the reactor 4 in back),because we don't have any pictures of our group!

thank you very much for the work you do
You are really passionate and it is felt during these two days that are now unforgettable.

Nuclear is the one global problem and I hope we find one solution very quickly!

we hope to see you again very soon,
friendly,
Regis & marion

Thank you again,chernobyl-tour!

Hello everyone.. :hi: Here are my impressions of a two day trip to the Zone that I made with Chernobyl - Tour this September..

It was really an amazing trip.. One of a lifetime experiences and all my main expectations were met.. I saw everything I hoped that I will see in the Zone.. We had an amazing guide, Nikolay, that showed as everyting we asked for, answered all our questions, very attentive guy, speaks good English.. :good: The driver was a bit nervous though.. Rushing back home to Kiev on the day 2 of the trip.. :D Ukrainians drive like crazy :-D

The only little complaint that I have is the food at the hotel Desyatka.. It was not that excellent and overwhelming as I had expected it to be from reading somewhere on this site.. Maybe the food in the canteen is better, but at the hotel it was nothing much, hardly any meat.. That is the only small complaint that I have.. Everything else was more then perfect and more then I expected.. :good:

I left the Zone with an addictive feeling, of a place I would love to visit again, and again.. that is calling me to return, come back, spend more time here.. :-D Almost like a drug, you get hooked to its magical attraction.. From my trip, I learned that the Zone is much more than eerie atmosphere and post apocalytpic scenes.. It is fool of (wild)life, wild nature.. I saw a wild boar in the very center of Chernobyl town! and I approached it to a half of meter.. :) That was the most perfect moment for me in the Zone.. Because it wasn't afraid of me.. Man is no longer a threat to it, since Chernobyl accident..

All in all, it was a wonderful trip, I love your country, Ukraine is the best! I really hope that I will come visit once again.. :good: Respect and peace to you all Slavic brothers..

Dear HOBAK,
Thank you very much for such an open sincere and detailed feedback about your tour to Chernobyl Exclusion Zone in September :)
Yes, the Zone is definitely a unique multi-faceted place with eerie atmosphere, abandoned locales which surprisingly! Appear to be full of (wild)life. It’s amazing to read about your meeting with a wild-boar!
No doubt, the Zone can make you addicted to it. In fact, we have the same feeling, that’s why every week our team keeps exploring this one-in-a-kind area.
What is more are grateful for your recommendation on meals improvement. We understand that active Zone exploration hinges on good nutrition. So, we will negotiate changes in Chernobyl hotel menu.
Chernobyl-TOUR team really appreciates your feedback, HOBAK, as we strive for 100% customer excellence :) So, thanks again for your recommendations.
Looking forward to meeting you again on our trip to Chernobyl Zone!

Many thanks to the organizers of the Chernobyl-tour on 11th July 2017.
Since decided to visit Ukraine, Chernobyl was the must place for us to visit. Somehow we were not able it during our stay. At the very last moment could make to book the tour through Chernobyl-tour.com, just a day prior to our flight back to India.
It was a awesome tour,
Our group consisted of 14 people from different countries.
On July 11th, all the group assembled at the meeting point as suggested by the tour company promptly at 8:00 AM and we quickly made our way to the first Control Post into the Zone. In addition to the driver, the group was accompanied by tour guide Elena, who very good knowledge of the tour and kept informing us about all the places we visited during the whole day, a lot of interesting stories about the incidence and about the area she shared the whole day.
The group was driven back to Kyiv city around 8.30pm.
The overall impression of the trip was very positive - the tour guide were very knowledgeable, informative and attentive to our needs and questions.
I would highly recommend Chernobyl Tour to the English-speaking audience, who is willing and able to visit such unique and interesting place as Chernobyl.
